Mooncat Games?

Mooncat Games is a new indie games label.

Mooncat was formed with the goal of being … well, better. We aspire to always maintain a friendly, helpful, and positive presence with our studio partners. After all, we got into the games industry to help the people who make games that we ourselves love! And even in times of stress and pressure, we believe there’s power in focusing on optimism, trust, and teamwork to achieve even our most lofty goals.

We also believe in giving back! Games can help people feel better, but with Mooncat we want to go beyond that. Part of our own profits from each game are donated to the charitable organisation of the studio’s choice.

Mooncat offers a broad range of custom services reaching beyond PR and marketing. From localization to storefront management to business development and platform partnerships, the most important thing to us is to treat every developer team and their game as a unique project. We offer highly tailored and personalised services to developers, moulding traditional marketing and branding services to create a groundwork, and branching out into new uncharted territories to create innovative campaigns that can break through barriers and shine a spotlight even into the smallest of subgenres.

How did Mooncat Games begin?

Mooncat began as a natural evolution out of Player Two PR, founded by Charlene Lebrun in 2016. The agency provides PR and marketing support to a range of indie clients, and has built a small but very dedicated team of marketers (and friends!) around the world who come together to help developers realise the potential of their games with bespoke marketing campaigns.

With greater and greater frequency during the COVID pandemic, we came into contact with developer teams we dearly wanted to work with, but whose size and budget just couldn’t support an agency-client relationship. Our team began to offer additional services and profit-sharing agreements, just to make it possible to help excellent teams make lovely games. Before we knew it, we had signed three gorgeous indie titles, and Mooncat Games was born.

Fun Fact! Mooncat is named after Charlene’s cat Apollo, who is no longer with us. Our favorite furry friend was adopted on the 50th anniversary of the moon landings.

What exactly is it we do?

  • Our team’s deep expertise is in promoting indie games of all sizes via our partner comms agency, Player Two PR.

  • Getting your game into the hands of players all around the world is crucial!

    We handle all the coordination with leading localization partners, to make the process as smooth as possible.

  • Getting your game onto a wild variety of storefronts can be hugely time consuming. We’ll get you there!

  • Of course, we’re also there to help you port your game and help catch and swat those bugs!
